Black Boaters of Today began with a simple vision: to create a welcoming space where Black boaters and boating enthusiasts could connect, share experiences, and enjoy life on the water. Founders Gilbert and Angela Allen recognized the need for a community where people who looked like them could come together, build meaningful relationships, and experience the boating lifestyle with confidence and pride.
What started as a social club has grown into a thriving community of more than 21,000 members and a purpose-driven organization committed to making a lasting impact.

Our mission is to introduce more people to the boating lifestyle, promote boating education and water safety, strengthen relationships, support entrepreneurs, create elevated experiences, and increase Black representation throughout the boating and marine industries

Our vision is to build a nationally recognized organization with BBOT chapters across the country connecting communities, developing leaders, inspiring youth, and creating greater access to boating experiences and opportunities for generations to come
